Week 28

  March 28-31 Spring is in the air!  The students seem ready for a much-deserved break. They’ve been working very hard.  This break has a tendency to feel like the finish line.  Please help us by reminding your Firstie that we still have a lot of learning yet to come this year! We have 9 more weeks of growth ahead of us! Academic Updates We will: Learn about open vowels and hard vs. soft C/G Practice telling time Continue to work on +/- fact fluency Practice and perform our readers theaters Exciting Dramatic Play Project Micah’s mom, Chloe, has graciously agreed to help me with a project for your children that I’m really hoping to get up and running.  The idea is to support learning through purposeful play. Please see the attached letter and document. 

Week 27

  March 21-25 Program Details On March 23 please have your child wear pajamas to school and bring a stuffed animal.  We will be performing for students during the school day. That evening please arrive at St. Joe High School by 5:15.  Bring the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and neighbors.  This is a very enjoyable program.  The children have been working very hard to prepare a great show for you!  Academic Updates We will: Learn about Y as a vowel Continue studying geometry and fractions Continue to work on +/- fact fluency Finish up our compare and contrast unit Begin practice for Reader’s Theater Exciting Dramatic Play Project Micah’s mom, Chloe, has graciously agreed to help me with a project for your children that I’m really hoping to get up and running.  The idea is to support learning through purposeful play. Week 26

  March 14-18 Since we do not have school on Monday we will do our National Potato Chip Day activities on Tuesday.  If you’d still like to send in some chips please sign up here. Coming up 3-18 National Let’s Laugh Day is March 19. We will share jokes on Friday. Week 25

March 7-11 We had a blast with Seuss week! Crazy hair day was especially fun.  This week we will continue to focus on books as we work our way through the whole school March is Reading Month book brackets that our awesome media team has put together.  Books always win!  Report cards will be coming home this week.  Once you’ve had a chance to look them over please let me know if you have any questions or if you’d like to meet to discuss your child’s progress.  Academic Updates We will: Focus on the “er, ir, and ur” sounds in words like: bird, word, mother, purr, stir, etc. Begin a geometry unit Continue learning about light and sound (at home look for examples of transparent, translucent, and opaque objects!)
